Extension for expressions of interest - Chiropractic Board of Australia's nominee to the CCEA Board of Directors

Applicants are invited to provide an expression of interest in being one of the Chiropractic Board of Australia’s (National Board) two nominees to the Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia (CCEA) Board of Directors.

Objective and Context

CCEA is a nationally recognised body assigned accreditation functions by the National Board under s43 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law, as in force in each state and territory (the National Law).

CCEA is responsible for the:

• accrediting and monitoring of entry-level chiropractic programs in Australia
• undertaking the skills assessment of overseas trained chiropractors wishing to register and practise in Australia, and
• developing and maintaining accreditation and competency standards for the education of chiropractors in Australia.

CCEA reports to the National Board as required in the Agreement for Accreditation Functions that exists between CCEA and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) on behalf of the National Board.

Scope

Under rule 36 of CCEA’s constitution, the National Board has a role in nominating two persons to act as directors of CCEA, independent of the National Board.

The nominees have no responsibility to, or authority from, the National Board; nor do they report to the National Board.

These independent appointments are made by the National Board with the understanding that the nominees will bring a set of skills and abilities that will support and enhance the work of CCEA.  Nominees will be appointed for a period of up to 3 years by the National Board.

These roles are open to applicants with or without chiropractic qualifications.  It is preferable that applicants reside within Australia and for those applicants with chiropractic qualifications that they are registered as a chiropractor in Australia.

The National Board recognises the importance of, and has endorsed, the National Scheme's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Cultural Safety Strategy 2020-2025.

Evaluation criteria

Your application will be considered against the following criteria:

• Relevant experience involving the chiropractic profession
• Where applicable, registration as a chiropractor in Australia
• Professional good standing
• Experience in the education of chiropractors and / or the accreditation of chiropractic programs.
• Acceptable declaration of interests
• Experience in the regulation of the chiropractic profession
• Post-graduate education or experience
• An understanding of the regulatory role of accreditation bodies under the National Law
